About
Haneru is a practical reference for people building and running Shopify stores. The goal is straightforward: clear, honest guides that explain how things actually work, without the filler.
Shopify’s official documentation is comprehensive, but it can be hard to navigate, especially when you’re new and don’t yet know what you’re looking for. Haneru is built to sit alongside it, filling in the gaps and explaining the things that often get skipped over.
What’s Covered
Section titled “What’s Covered”The documentation is organised around the natural progression of building a store:
- Introduction: Getting your store configured and understanding the admin
- Shopify Basics: Products, collections, media, and how the catalogue fits together
- Store Management: Day-to-day operations: orders, inventory, policies, apps, analytics, and ShopifyQL
- Theme Development: What themes are, how they work, and an introduction to Liquid
- Guides: Long-form walkthroughs and integrations, like connecting Google Sheets to the Shopify API
- Resources: A curated list of tools, references, and repositories worth bookmarking
The Approach
Section titled “The Approach”Practical over theoretical: Explanations are based on real tasks you’d actually do in your store, not abstract overviews of how features work in theory.
Honest about complexity: Some things in Shopify are genuinely tricky. When that’s the case, it’s worth saying so rather than glossing over it.
Beginner-friendly without being patronising: The guides assume you’re new to Shopify, not new to the web entirely!
